Men's Soccer Concedes Second Half Comeback to the Eutectics

ST. LOUIS, MO – The Brescia University men's soccer team traveled to St. Louis, MO to take on the UHSP Eutectics. Despite a commanding lead at the half, the Bearcats dropped the decision, 4-3. The boys move on to 1-7 overall and 1-1 in conference.

The Bearcats took no time gaining possession of the ball at the blow of the first whistle as they got their first corner kick in the 8th minute. A few corners and shots later, Adam Byzdra scored the first goal for the Bearcats off a deflected corner kick by the Eutectics. In the 26th minute of play, Ezekiel Isom would find the back net off the corner kick from Byzdra for the Bearcats second goal of the match. The first 45 minutes would tick down as the Bearcats held a 2-0 lead heading into the locker rooms.

A minute into the second half, the Eutectics were able to score their first goal of the match off a penalty kick caused by a handball in the box. The Eutectics came back with a vengeance as they score two more goals 40 seconds apart to take the lead, 3-2. Trying to tie the game, the Bearcat offense would dribble the ball down field where the Eutectic defense kicked it away to give BU a corner kick. Lance Dickens, with his 6'3 frame, headed a ball over the entire UHSP defensive line and into the net to tie the match at three apiece.

Unfortunately, the Eutectics would score in the 77th minute for the 4-3 lead as the Bearcats failed to equalize. BU outshot UHSP 17-11 with 11 corner kicks in the loss while Byzdra, Isom, and Dickens scored the only three goals for the Bearcats. Finn Martin gets the loss between the posts to extend his record to 1-1.

The Bearcats move forward to RSC play as they take on WVU Tech Saturday with a kickoff time of 1pm CT.
