Five-Set Battle Taken by Women's Volleyball on the Road

COLUMBUS, IN - In this battle between the nine and ten spot teams, the Bearcats emerged victorious in the five-set battle to improve their RSC record to 2-4.

This evenly set matchup was exactly what it was expected to be as each team traded points. Three back-to-back kills gave the Bearcats a three point advantage over the Crimson Pride. IUC handed the Bearcats the last three points needed to secure the first set win, 25-18. Some momentum dropped for BU as IU Columbus took an early 6-0 lead in the second set. The Bearcats took advantage of some Crimson Pride miscues as they rally back to tie up the set score. Unfortunately, IUC took set two with a final score of 26-24 following a called timeout. The Crimson Pride extended their momentum into set three as they became just one set shy of the match winner. A fire was lit under the Bearcats after already coming off a loss this weekend, intending not to count another. BU took the fourth set with a final score of 25-22 to force a set five. The Bearcat attackers put this match away as BU came out with a 15-7 victory to earn their second conference win.

Callie Mason continues to pummel the ball as she had 19 kills in this contest. Jasmin Jones had 11 kills of her own in the matchup. Cheaney Archer had a career and game high of 50 assists along with 18 digs while Campbell McBride led with 21 digs.

The Bearcats will host the Mighty Oaks of Oakland City this coming Friday at 6pm in another conference matchup.
