Women's Volleyball Routed by the Grenadiers
NEW ALBANY, IN – Riding the high of their first conference win, the Bearcats fell to the Grenadiers of IU Southeast on the road this past Tuesday night in three sets. BU extended their record to 5-15 overall and 1-3 in conference play.
The Bearcats never found the lead in this contest as IU Southeast found their offense early in set one, going out to a 6-0 lead. Back-to-back kills by Maddy Pate got the Bearcats within two of the Grenadier advantage as BU hunted for the lead. Despite BU reaching within three points of a set one victory, the IUS offense put the two final points on the floor to take set one, 25-23.
Set two ended in the same fashion as the Grenadiers never relinquished the lead, keeping the Bearcat offense to a minimum.
The third was the only chance BU had left to extend the matchup. However, the Grenadiers had other plans as they jumped out to another large lead to start. The Bearcats struggled to keep the ball off the floor as IUS walked away with the final set, 25-19.
Callie Mason and Maddy Pate each totaled 12 kills while Cheaney Archer assisted 33 times as Campbell Mcbride gathered 14 digs.
The Bearcats are set to take on the #11 IU Kokomo Cougars at home this coming Friday (Oct. 4th) at 7pm CT.
