Lady Bearcats Victorious in RSC Game of the Week

MIDWAY, Ky. – The Brescia University women's basketball team picked up the RSC Game of the Week victory against Midway. The close matchup came down to the final moments as the Bearcats took the 71-69 road win. BU extended their overall record to 12-5 and 4-3 in conference play.

As both teams traded the lead, a Shelbie Beatty three gave the Lady Bearcats the five-point advantage. The Eagles came rushing back with a few shots of their own to tie the score to 11. Jordan Joe came off the bench hot as she sunk back-to-back jump shots for the Bearcats. BU forced three Midway turnovers as they continued to stretch the lead to 11. A 13-10 BU run ended the first half as the Lady Bearcats maintained the 10-point lead.

Caroline Lucas stepped up in the third quarter as she put up nine of the Bearcats 15 points in just eight minutes. The Eagles seized their opportunities from BU missed shots as they shrunk the lead to two to start the fourth quarter. The battle in the fourth ensued as the Lady Bearcats jumped out on a 6-0 run. The scoring drought for both teams lasted roughly three minutes until a Midway foul gave free shots to Lucas. The Eagles knotted the score on the and-1 layup with 2:45 to go in the game. Brescia pulled out the win with a few clutch layups as they defeated Midway, 71-69.

Caroline Lucas led all scorers with 23 points while adding eight rebounds and two steals. Shelbie Beatty and Jenna Krampe combined for 23 points and eight rebounds.

The Bearcats will continue the road trip as they head to IU East to take on the Red Wolves this Saturday at 2pm CT.
