Lady Bearcats Dropped Contest on the Road to Montreat

KINGSPORT, Tn. – The Lady Bearcats saw their first loss in four games as they faced the 4-3 Cavaliers of Montreat (NC) in game one of The Show. Despite being down 16 in the second half, the fourth quarter comeback by the Bearcats was not enough as the Cavs took the 64-56 win.

The Cavs outscored the Bearcats 17-9 to start the matchup as BU struggled from the floor. The Bearcats made up for the deficit as they picked up the pace to put up 16 points as they tie the Cavs at 25-25 going into the half.

The turnovers in the third by BU allowed the Cavs to put up 23 to just the Bearcats nine points. Down 16 to start the fourth quarter, back-to-back forced turnovers by Montreat built the momentum for the Bearcats as Amelia Mackey sunk a three to cut the Cav's lead to nine. Baskets against by Mackey and Jenna Krampe with a three by Caroline Lucas got the Bearcats within four of the lead with under five minutes to go.

Unfortunately, the Bearcats couldn't execute the comeback as they drop their first contest of the tournament.
