Despite jumping out early to a 3-0 lead, the Bearcats struggled defensively as two errors led to the Eagles first two runs in the bottom of the second. Down 4-3, Kaeloni Jordan singled up the middle to score Hannah Hailey from third to knot the score at four. The offense went cold as the Eagles rallied for eight runs in two innings. The Bearcats only put up five hits and four runs in the first game loss.
Game 2: Bearcats 4 Midway 3
The Bearcats bounced back on both sides of the field as they grabbed the split in the series with a 4-3 win in game two. The Eagles got on the board first with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the first. An error by the Midway left fielder allowed a Bearcat run to score on the tag up from second base. Mikah Goeppner smashed a double to left center to score Emma Kate Elrod who reached previously on an error as BU took a 3-1 lead. BU's final run came in the sixth inning on another sacrifice fly off the bat of Felicity Cunningham. The Eagles had some life in the bottom of the seventh as they scored two runs but were shut down to end the matchup.
Savannah Jones earned the win in the circle with her first complete game giving up just three runs.
