
Smith Named All-American; First in Program History Since 2013
MARION, Ind. - After qualifying for Nationals, sophomore Ricardo Smith, made significant program history at the Outdoor Track and Field Championships Thursday. Smith finished 5th in the Decathlon with a final score of 6,453.
Smith etched his name in the Bearcat record books all season long as his hard work earned him an All-American title. He is the first athlete in the Men's Track & Field program since Matt Lowe back in 2013 to be awarded with the name. Smith finished 5th in the decathlon out of the 15 respected across the nation. The highlight of Smith's 6,453-point performance came in the 110-meter hurdles, where he finished first in 14.21 seconds. He also placed third in the 100-meter dash (10.98), the long jump (6.55 meters) and javelin (50.85).
