Men's Track Takes on the Tiger Paw Invite

The Brescia men's track & field team competed at the Tiger Paw Invite in Louisville, Kentucky on January 28th. The team broke numerous school records, as well as having one student-athlete qualify for the NAIA National Championship.

Distance:

In the mile, Wes Wheatley (JR/Hawesville, KY) and Draven Stewart (SO/Leitchfield, KY) ran 5:48.04 and 5:57.08, respectively.

James Barrow (JR/Elizabethtown, KY) competed in the 3000m, running 11:31.00.

Jumps:

In pole vault, Ethan Pierce (SO/Leitchfield, KY) set a new school record with a height of 4.15m. Pierce's jump earned him a fourth place finish at the meet and currently has him ranked second in the River States Conference. Reese Haight (SO/Utica, KY) also competed in pole vault, clearing 2.50m.

Nick Mighell (FR/Benton, KY) led the Bearcats in long jump with a distance of 5.96m. Talon Hutto (SO/Floyds Knobs, IN), Ethan Pierce, Joseph Tapia (JR/Owensboro, KY), and John Brink (SO/Owensboro, KY) also competed in long jump.

Mighell also competed in triple jump, leaping a distance of 11.76m.

Sprints:

In the 60m dash, Denilson Whitmore (SR/Murfreesboro, TN) and Colby Aschenbrenner (SO/Ottumwa, IA) ran 7.53 and 7.57 seconds, respectively.

In the 60m hurdles, Mason Aschenbrenner (SR/Ottumwa, IA) qualified for the 2022 NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championship, hitting an NAIA 'B' standard with a time of 8.32 seconds. He is currently ranked first in the RSC in the event.

In the 200m dash, Mason Aschenbrenner led the Bearcats with a time of 24.11 seconds, Talon Hutto was the second Bearcat across the line, running 24.19 seconds. Colby Aschenbrenner finished the event in 24.77 seconds, followed by Benjamin Brown (JR/Memphis, MI) (26.36), Nick Mighell (26.98), and Reese Haight (28.33).

In the 400m dash, Joseph Tapia and John Brink finished with times of 1:02.05 and 1:03.54, respectively.

Throws:

Andrew Parker (SR/Louisville, KY) competed in weight throw, throwing 12.07m. He is currently ranked second in the RSC in the weight throw.

Jessee Wood (FR/Sacramento, KY) and Adam Gregory (FR/Hawesville, KY) competed in weight throw for the second time in their young collegiate careers, throwing 6.48m and 5.16m, respectively.
