Men's Basketball Shocks #25 Rio Grande at Home

OWENSBORO, Ky. – The Brescia University men's basketball team rallied together to knock off the #25 team in the nation in conference opponent, Rio Grande. With the 79-76 victory, the Bearcats extended their record to 5-9 overall and 3-3 in RSC play.

The Bearcats came out on a shooting tear in the first half as they built an early 13-6 lead over the ranked RedStorm. Rio Grande slowly but surely worked their way back to the lead as a layup got them within two. Linkin Lockhart sprung to life to start the second half as he hit three baskets from beyond the arc on consecutive drives for a quick nine points. With 11:30 to go in the contest, the Bearcats extended their lead to 10 on a seven-point run. At the 2:50 mark, the Bearcats had maintained a 14-point advantage. The RedStorm started to press the Bearcats offense which turned into their 10-0 run. Luckily, the Bearcats survived the final minutes to take the win over Rio with the three-point victory.
