CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky - The men's basketball team dropped a pair of losses at the Lou Cunningham Classic at Campbellsville. The Bearcats fall to 1-4 with conference play coming up next week.
BU started off strong as the Bearcats stayed within striking distance of the Tigers. Back-to-back baskets by Louis Penn III and Linkin Lockhart shrunk the Campbellsville lead to three. Despite only being down four points, BU forced four turnovers and kept the Tigers to 35% shooting from the field in the first half down by four.
Both teams upped the ante in the second half as the Bearcats almost doubled their points from the first half. Marcos Mejia contributed 10 of the 34 points as he shot 4-6 from the field and 2-4 from behind the arc. Unfortunately, the Bearcats sent the Tigers to the line too many times as those points made the difference in the Tiger win.
Damian Garcia continues to lead the Bearcat scoring with 13 points, while senior Mike Caswell got in on the action with 12 points of his own. John Saenz continues to rack up the boards as he grabbed his second game with 10 or more rebounds.
The Bearcats start conference play at home against St. Mary of the Woods this coming Tuesday at 5:30pm CT.
