Men's Basketball Evens Record After Win Against IUE
In this back-and-forth battle, the Bearcats looked to get revenge from last year's home game when the Red Wolves routed BU in an overtime loss. After a quick three by the Red Wolves, Taeron Hogg would answer back with a layup pf his own on his career night. Back-to-back layups by Ksuan Casey would give the Bearcats a one-point lead. Despite the momentum beginning to shift in the direction of the Bearcats, the Red Wolves would get crucial stops on defense to battle back and tie the score at 13-apeice. After a shooting drought by both teams, the Bearcats would break out on an 8-2 run with five minutes left in the first half. IUE continued to battle back as the Bearcats hold on to a three-point lead at the end of the first half buzzer.
A technical foul at the end of the first half by IUE would give the Bearcats free throws to start the second half. Taeron Hogg would take those free throws and then hit a jump shot in the paint on the immediate possession to give the Bearcats a seven-point lead. The Red Wolves began to stretch the court as they hit back-to-back shots beyond the arc to get them within a single score to take the lead. The Bearcats continued to fight back as they held the advantage until the three-minute mark where a Red Wolves layup would take their first lead of the day. A clutch three by Nevin Graves would give the Bearcats the two-point lead with under a minute left in regulation. IUE had to foul in order to gain possession where they missed back-to-back threes to tie the score. The Bearcats would walk away with the win, 96-91.
Taeron Hogg would score his season high of 33 pointson 10-17 shotting with nine rebounds. Ksuan Casey followed behind with 26 points and seven rebounds as Nevin Graves added 18 points to the final score.
The Bearcats will travel to Kennesaw State University tomorrow for another exhibition matchup.
