Men's Basketball's Efforts in Comeback Fall Short
The Wildcats would quickly jump out to a 9-2 lead to start the first half. A layup by Camden Pfeister would break up the run as the Bearcats threw two more points on the board. BU struggled taking care of the ball as the Wildcats jumped out to a 10-point lead. A steal by Nevin Graves would give the Bearcats a fast break opportunity as Mark Cooper makes the easy layup to cap off the first half down by nine.
The Bearcats would turn a complete 180 in the second half as they outscored the Wildcats, 52-47. Taeron Hogg would go on a tear in the second as he started his 21-point half with a three. Back-to-back shots by Ksuan Casey and Hogg would cut the Wildcat deficit to six. A technical foul by a Bethel player would send Taeron Hogg back to the charity stripe as his two shots get the Bearcats within four of the lead. With 12 minutes to go in the second, the Bearcats would take advantage of bad passes as they chip away at the lead. Finally, two free shots and a made basket from none other than Taeron Hogg would get the Bearcats within one of the Wildcat lead. Both teams would go shot for shot in the final three minutes until a fast break steal and dunk would tie the score at 74. Foul trouble would get the best of the Bearcats in the final seconds as they fail to complete the four-point comeback.
Taeron Hogg led the offense with 26 points on 10-17 shooting and six rebounds. Ksuan Casey and Camden Pfeister each scored in double digits (18 & 5) as they combined for 14 rebounds. Mark Cooper and Nevin Graves respectfully had 15 points collectively off the bench in the loss.
The Bearcats will return home on Saturday, Dec. 16 to take on conference opponent, IU East, with a tipoff time of 2pm CT.
