Men's Basketball Struggle in Comeback Loss

Men's Basketball Struggle in Comeback Loss

Following a historic win at UHSP, the Bearcats looked to continue their intensity in this rivalry matchup with the Grenadiers. IUS would get the scoring started with a put-back layup off a missed three. After a Bearcat turnover, Anthony Lopez would slither through defenders for a tough layup to get BU on the board. The Grenadiers would go on a 7-0 run forcing the Bearcats to take their first timeout. IUS would hold the 17-11 lead over the Bearcats until Nevin Graves subbed in and hit an immediate three-pointer to cut the lead down to three. Both teams would go shot for shot until Taeron Hogg would even the score at 28 with a three. Multiple missed jumpers by the Bearcat offense would give the ball back to the Grenadiers as they rack up a six-point lead before half.

The second half seemed to be the Bearcats demise in the entirety of last season as IUS scores out of the gate first. The Grenadiers would push out to their biggest lead of the night at 11 points. Anthony Lopez scored the first basket for BU as the Bearcats try to chip away at the lead. As the Bearcats continued to claw their way back, the BU defense was holding their own as they kept the IUS offense scoreless for two minutes. A two-man game between Camden Pfeister and Ksuan Casey would command the Bearcat offense as Brescia got within four of the lead. As 10 seconds light up the clock, Camden Pfeister would get fouled beyond the arc to put him on the charity stripe. Pfeister only connected on one of the three free throws, as the Bearcats dropped the contest 77-72.

Camden Pfeister led the team with 21 points on 8-16 shooting and 2-3 from beyond the arc. Taeron Hogg and Ksuan Casey also ended with double digits (17 & 16) as Casey grabbed 12 boards for his second double-double of the season.

The Bearcats take the court again at home as they face Crowley's Ridge Thursday, Nov. 30 with a tip-off time of 7pm.
