MEN'S BASKETBALL CONTINUES WIN STREAK

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The Brescia University men's basketball team picks up their fifth conference win to extend their overall record to 8-4 and 5-4 in conference play.

Tay Smith would get the scoring started for the Bearcats as he get fouled and heads to the charity stripe. Smith would get his own rebound on the second attempt and finish at the rim to give the Bearcats an early 3-0 lead. The Celtics would follow up with an 8-0 run to take the lead against the Bearcats. A layup by Micheal Caswell would take the lead for the Bearcats in this low scoring half. The Bearcat defense would force 17 turnovers in the first half as they head to the locker rooms with a 37-23 lead. 

Into the second half, the Bearcat offense would start to show signs of life as Nevin Graves would bury a three to give the Bearcats a 15-point advantage with 15 minutes left in regulation. Carreiun Mathis would continue to rebounding performance as he cleans the glass after a Bearcat missed shot and finish with a putback of his own. With the 61-45 lead, BU would continue to exploit the Celtic defense as they take the win with their largest margin of the season, 80-58.

Tay Smith led the pack with 20 points on 8-17 shooting from the floor, while Elijah Pughsley tabs 15 points, six rebounds, and five steals. 

The Bearcats continue their road trip as they take on Point Park Saturday, Jan. 14th with a tip-off time of 3 pm CT.
