Lady Bearcats Fall Short Against Blue Raiders

COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Brescia University women's volleyball team traveled to Lindsey Wilson College Wednesday evening to take on the Blue Raiders in a non-conference matchup. Despite tying the set score at one a piece following set two, the Bearcats dropped the next two sets as LWC takes the match in four. The Bearcats drop to 0-5 on the season with an important weekend coming up.

Service errors seemed to be the demise of the Bearcat offense as five of their 17 came in the first set. The Blue Raiders were able to take advantage of the BU mistakes to go up a set after the 25-12 win in their match opener. BU flipped the script in set two going toe-to-toe with the Blue Raiders as they strung runs together to get the 27-25 win.

Lindsey Wilson took set three, 25-10, as the Bearcats struggled to put the ball down on the court. Brescia tried to make things interesting in set four as they came storming back yet again, attacking the Blue Raider's front line. Despite the comeback, the Bearcats dropped set four, 25-20, to take the loss against the Mid-South opponent.

Jasmin Jones led the attacking front for BU with 10 kills while Cheaney Archer assisted on 20 of the attacks along with 10 digs. Francisca Sousa and Jennifer Lee each denied the Blue Raiders at the net for four of the team's six blocks.

BU takes the court again at home this Friday and Saturday (Aug. 30^th & 31^st) as they host the 2024 BU Classic.
