Women's Soccer Breaks Record in 9-1 Victory

COLUMBUS, IN – The Brescia University women's soccer team defeated the Crimson Pride of IUPUC, 9-1, in last night's RSC matchup. The Lady Bearcats extended their overall record to 3-6 and 2-2 in conference play.

Coming off a tough loss to WVU Tech last Saturday, the Bearcat offense looked to dominate the field against IUPUC. Brescia did just that as they grabbed their first goal within the first five minutes of the match. Duda Feres would dribble the ball into the box where she would find Isabella McChessney standing alone for the wide-open goal. A foul in the box by Tori Poon would give IUPUC a penalty kick that fortunately landed wide of the posts to keep the Bearcat lead. The Crimson Pride would connect for a goal in the 11th minute of the match to even the score at one apiece. The Lady Bearcats continued to shoot the ball, even in the rain, as the second goal of the match came off the foot of Tori Poon on a free ball played by Geneva Hann to the backside of the posts.

Maci Uffelman would take advantage of a muffed pass in the 36th minute of play for her second goal of the game that snuck right under the diving goalie's hands. Geneva Hann would bump a ball into the net on a pass from Nicole Grisso at point-blank range to give the Bearcats a 4-1 lead with six minutes left in the first half. Five Bearcats would score in the second half to give BU the dominating win, 9-1.

The Lady Bearcats break a program record held previously by the 2007 women's soccer team by putting up 45 shots and 31 shots on goal in a single match. The 2007 team had 34 shots in a single match against Kentucky Christian where they won, 5-0.

Maci Uffelman records her second hat trick of the year while Duda Feres scores her first brace of the year. Victoria Poon and Nicole Grissoeach get their first goals of the season in the victory. Kya Seibert also gets her first win in the net for the Bearcats as she records nine saves on 10 shots.

The women's team will continue into conference play this Saturday as the faceoff against the Red Storm of Rio Grande with a kickoff time of 12pm CT.
