Bearcats Redeem Themselves With Win Over 6-0 UNOH
OWENSBORO, KY – The Lady Bearcats bounced back from their loss to Bethel (TN) earlier this week with a win against 6-0 University of Northwestern Ohio. The Racers proved a fierce opponent coming into the matchup, but the Bearcats got the win, 73-65, to improve to 4-1 on the season.
BU made up for their lack of production in the first half of the previous game by putting up 24 points in the first quarter. Cassidy Morris led all scorers in the opening quarter with 13 points. The Bearcats surged out to their largest lead of the day of 13 on a Brooklyn Stewart deep ball from beyond the arc to end the half.
Jenna Krampe and Caroline Lucas were responsible defensively for keeping the Racer's scoring leader, Alysia Lawson, at bay as the duo held Lawson to just 11 points in the first half.
Out of the break, the Bearcats were outscored by the Racers 21-10 in the third quarter as the Bearcats struggled from the field as they got within two of the Bearcat lead. Despite the Racers closing the gap on the lead, BU cranked up the defense as they forced UNOH into bad shots. On the other end, the Bearcats sank their much-needed shots as they got the win 73-65 over the 6-0 Racers.
Morris led the Bearcat team with 22 points and seven rebounds on 72% shooting from the field. Lucas and Stewart combined for 31 of the 73 Bearcat points.
The Lady Bearcats will travel to Welch College this coming Tuesday with a tipoff time of 6:30pm.
