Women's Basketball Starts 3-0 After Win Against Hornets

OWENSBORO, KY The Lady Bearcats moved to 3-0 on the season following their dominate 80-42 win Thursday night over the Harris-Stowe Hornets. This is the women's program best start to the year since the 2006-07 season when they previously went 3-0 to start.

The Bearcats started off hot in the first quarter as they outscored the Hornets 25-12. Jordan Joe led all scorers in the quarter as she drilled two of her three from downtown for six points. BU continued to take advantage of the Hornet's missed shots as they racked up 22 more before the half. Caroline Lucas cranked up the heat going 4-4 from the field for eight points.

With a 47-24 lead coming out of half, the Bearcats continued to push the envelope as Lucas and Brooklyn Stewart combined for 16 of the Bearcat's 22 points in the third quarter. Going into the four and final quarter, the Hornets limited the Bearcat's shot attempts by draining majority of the shot clock on their possessions. BU finished with just 11-points in the fourth but nonetheless got the win by 38-points, their largest margin of victory this season.

Three Bearcats ended in double-digit points: Lucas with 18, Cassidy Morris with 14 and 13 rebounds for her first double-double, and Stewart with 13 and six rebounds.

BU will have a tougher contest next Tuesday, Nov. 12, against the wildcats of Bethel (TN) at 5:30pm.
