Strong First Half Not Enough as Lady Bearcats Fall to IU Southeast
NEW ALBANY, IN – The Brescia University women's basketball team fell on the road to IU Southeast with a final score of 65-50. The Bearcats drop to 5-17 and 0-13 in RSC play.
The Lady Bearcats jumped out to a quick 13-8 lead in the first quarter. The turnovers for the Bearcats diminished the five-point lead BU had built. The Grenadiers outscored the Bearcats 25-7 in the second quarter with 18 points occurring in the first five minutes. BU attempted to work their way back as they saw themselves down by 13 at the half. Courtney Peyton would make quick work of the IUS defense as the offense fed her the ball on the baseline for her signature jumper. Peyton made the Bearcats first three buckets to cut the Grenadier deficit to 10. Back-to-back three pointers from Raquel Crooke-Losada and Elise Williams began to put a dent in the IUS lead. Unfortunately, the IUS team continued to shoot well, extending their lead further from the Bearcats as they take the win, 65-50.
Courtney Peyton continues to be the leading scorer for the Lady Bearcats with 12 points while Raquel Crooke-Losada cleaned the glass with her and team season high of 15 rebounds. Elise Williams followed with 11 points in 21 minutes off the bench on 4-6 shooting while also nailing her only two three pointers of the game.
The Lady Bearcats return home for another conference matchup against Midway with a tip-off time of 1pm CT.
