Women's Basketball Routed by the Pomeroys at Home, 59-41

OWENSBORO, KY – The Brescia University women's basketball team dropped their 11th conference matchup this season to the Pomeroys of St. Mary of the Woods with a final score of 59-41. The girls extend their overall record to 5-15 and RSC record to 0-11.

The Lady Bearcats battled hard against the #2 team in the division as they stayed shot-for-shot with the Pomeroys. The teams stayed locked at nine apiece with four minutes left in the first quarter until a foul by Lindsey Peyton would send the Pomeroys to the line for a chance to break the silence. Elise Williams would tie it up on a layup down in the paint as we end the first quarter. SMWC would outscore the Bearcats 10-5 in the second quarter as both teams ran out of steam. The Pomeroys would take a five-point lead going into the locker rooms. The Lady Bearcats struggled to get the ball to fall in the third quarter as SMWC would stride out to a 43-25 lead going into the fourth. Jaylee Covington's back-to-back shots would start to cut the Pomeroys' lead as the Bearcats try to battle back from the deficit. Unfortunately, BU was unable to close the gap as SMWC takes the win 59-41.

Paige Vanzant, Lindsey Peyton, and Elise Williams all finished with six points apiece while Courtney Peyton and Reagan Lawson both finished with five.

The Lady Bearcats head to Kokomo, IN this Saturday to face the Cougars with a tip-off time of 12pm CT.
